Halah Ibrahim, MD, MEHP

Vice President, International Outreach

Dr. Ibrahim is a board-certified internist with more than 25 years of experience in undergraduate and post-graduate medical education. As Chair of Academic Affairs and the founding designated institutional official and internal medicine residency program director at Tawam Hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), she spearheaded the institution’s initial achievement of ACGME-I accreditation. Most recently, she served as Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at Khalifa University, where she oversaw clinical training and the transition to residency.

Dr. Ibrahim was an original member of ACGME International’s Review Committee-International, and then served on the ACGME-I Board of Directors. She has served on multiple international advisory committees in medical education and has held editorial leadership roles, including associate editor of The Journal of Graduate Medical Education and deputy editor of Teaching and Learning in Medicine. Her own research focuses on the globalization of medical education, with particular emphasis on developing culturally relevant professionalism curricula and advancing palliative care education in the UAE. She has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and was named a 2025 Karolinska Institutet Prize in Medical Education (KIPRIME) Fellow.

A native New Yorker, Dr. Ibrahim worked as a clinician educator in lower Manhattan prior to moving to Abu Dhabi in 2008. She is a graduate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency at The New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center (now New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center). She also holds a Master of Health Professions Education degree from Johns Hopkins University.
