The ACGME is proud to be part of the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) Collaborative in support of the first Health Workforce Well-Being Day (HWWB Day) on March 18. Through HWWB Day, the NAM Collaborative and more than 90 founding partners look to shine a spotlight on the importance of protecting health workers’ well-being to sustain US health systems and ensure quality patient care, as well as provide an opportunity for collective action.
Several events were held in the week leading up to HWWB Day, including a celebratory event on Capitol Hill, featuring the Surgeon General, members of Congress, founding partners, and public participants on March 11.
HWWB Day furthers the priorities of the National Plan for Health Workforce Well-Being, which the NAM Collaborative published in 2022, calling for changes needed across the health system and at the organizational level to improve the well-being of the health workforce.
Since 2017, the ACGME has been proud to co-chair the NAM Action Collaborative for Clinician Well-Being and Resilience, a group working to fight burnout faced by health care workers. Last year the ACGME joined the Change Maker campaign, which stemmed from the National Plan. As part of this campaign, the Collaborative engaged with more than a dozen Change Makers, including ACGME Vice President of Communications Susan Holub, for a Photovoice project representing institutionalized health worker well-being.
