2022 Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Awardee Amit R.T. Joshi, MD, FACS is a professor of surgery and the associate dean for GME at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University Cooper University Healthcare in Camden, New Jersey. Dr. Joshi is also the editor-in-chief of the Surgical Council on Resident Education (SCORE®). 

2022 David C. Leach Awardee Nupur Sharma, MD, is a PGY-4 resident in pathology at Vidant Medical Center/East Carolina University.

2022 Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Awardee Nicole Paradise Black, MD, MEd is a professor of pediatrics, the associate chair of pediatrics education, and the program director for pediatrics at University of Florida Health’s Shands Children’s Hospital. 

ACGME Equity Matters provides a safe space for additional discussion and growth through monthly Learning Community meetings in which participants explore their new knowledge and experience with the initiative’s Fundamentals of DEI and anti-racism modules with physician subject matter experts, peer support, and advising.

In July 2021, and in support of its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the ACGME proudly and formally announced ACGME Equity Matters^TM, a new initiative that introduces a framework for continuous learning and process improvement in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and anti-racism practices.
