Dear Graduate Medical Education Colleagues and ACGME Volunteers,
During National Volunteer Week, I want to honor and thank the more than 800 volunteers who dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to the ACGME – and to also express gratitude to the entire GME community. Your work is essential to the fulfilment of our Mission of assessing, ensuring, and enhancing the quality of GME through accreditation and education—toward improving health care and population health.
I am proud to be part of the remarkable GME community and am deeply grateful for the many contributions that each of you makes to GME. I am truly inspired by the spirit of collaboration and commitment that defines our volunteers.
Volunteers support nearly every facet of the ACGME’s work—from program review and Requirements development, to governance, resource development, and more. The 65,000+ hours you contribute annually reflect a profound dedication to advancing GME and supporting the next generation of physicians. For a look at the current impact of our volunteers, just take a look at this post on the ACGME Blog for National Volunteer Month 2025.
For those who are not yet involved, but who are interested in contributing, we encourage you to explore opportunities to serve on committees, task forces, or work groups. Openings are announced through various channels, including our weekly e-Communication and social media accounts on Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.
Thank you for your continued support, and for being an essential part of the ACGME community. I look forward to all we will accomplish together in the years ahead!
Sincerely,
Debra F. Weinstein, MD
President and Chief Executive Officer
