Residents and fellows attending the 2022 ACGME Annual Educational Conference can choose from more than 70 sessions, including keynotes, a pre-conference geared specifically for residents and fellows, and great options for deep-dive learning. You’ll also have time for networking, and even a little fun. The registration fee is only $95 for residents and fellows and includes all Standard registration benefits. That is far lower than any comparable in-person event, and with no travel costs and no travel days away from programs, this is a great year to attend.

Getting Back to Bedside: Enhancing Meaningful Physician-Patient Connections in GME
Start the conference with morning yoga, then join the resident- and fellow-oriented pre-conference. The pre-conference draws on the experience of the ACGME’s Back to Bedside initiative, helping participants learn to forge meaningful relationships with their patients—the core of the physician experience. This is a live, online event allowing for active participation.
In the afternoon, browse more than 50 abstract posters, and network with poster presenters. End the day with a great team trivia contest. Prizes will be awarded!

Fostering Meaning and Connections through Storytelling and Written Reflection
The conference theme begins with “Meaning in Medicine,” and this presentation offers a path to regain that meaning. Led by members of the ACGME Council of Review Committee Residents, participants will be guided through two modalities for self-expression to foster community, well-being, and humanism: storytelling and reflective writing.

The Marvin R. Dunn Keynote Address: Out of Adversity: Transforming Graduate Medical Education
After morning yoga, Dr. Holly Humphrey, president of the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, will highlight key areas where graduate medical education can enhance diversity, equity, and a sense of belonging for all, build high performing teams to meet the needs of patients, and help all team members navigate ethical dilemmas and moral injury. Using the painful experiences of an ongoing pandemic, Dr. Humphrey will outline a path forward on behalf of current and future generations of learners in graduate medical education.

Closing Plenary: Disabusing Disability and Redefining Race: Intersectionality in GME
End your conference with an inspiring and forward-looking plenary! As a disabled, black, Nigerian, immigrant, cis-gender, heterosexual, male, physician, athlete, and director, Dr. Oluwaferanmi Okanlami will strive to demonstrate that disability is not inability by encouraging the audience to allow people to demonstrate what they can do, rather than attempting to limit them based on what they can’t.
