The University of Chicago's Fall 2024 issue of Medicine on the Midway features Dr. Ortega in an article on challenges faced by street medicine programs due to increased homelessness and migration, as well as the importance of culturally competent care and the need for medical education to address health inequities and prepare future clinicians to serve underserved populations effectively.

Dr. Ortega discusses her research on improving language access by training doctors to provide language-concordant care, and reframing the concept of language as a tool to improve health.

Dr. Ortega addresses the underrepresentation and scarcity of Latina and Latino physicians, the importance of language proficiency standards, and the ACGME's role in preparing diverse physicians for the future.

ACGME Chief Research, Milestone Development, and Evaluation Officer Dr. Eric Holmboe joined the Academic Medicine Podcast to discuss a new article he co-authored titled "The Urgency of Now: Rethinking and Improving Assessment Practices in Medical Education Programs," produced as part of the 2022 Macy Foundation Conference on ensuring fairness in medical education assessment.

The ACGME is mentioned in a Medpage Today article discussing organizations which have reaffirmed their commitment to diversifying the healthcare workforce in light of the Supreme Court decision on affirmative action.

In response to the June 29, 2023, U.S. Supreme Court ruling that prohibits race-conscious admissions policies, the AMA convened a group of thought leaders in medical education and health equity.
