THURSDAY! Women with Disabilities in Medicine/Disability in Graduate Medical Education Panel: Transitioning from UME to GME
The event, open to all at no cost, will be held online March 28 from 2:30-4:00 p.m. Central. Captioning and American Sign Language (ASL) will be provided.
Leaders and learners will share insights on navigating the pathway from medical school to residency, thriving as a resident with a disability, and addressing the unique challenges that often disproportionally impact women. The panel discussion will be moderated by ACGME Vice President, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Pilar Ortega, MD.

MUA/P Interest Group Sessions
The ACGME is launching monthly virtual interest group sessions for GME community members who are involved in addressing the needs of MUA/Ps. MUA/Ps are places or communities in which groups of people have unmet health or health care needs.
These one-hour Zoom calls will take place on the third Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. Central and are open to the entire GME community. The aim of these sessions is to provide information about efforts in GME and MUA/P, to solve for common challenges, and to share helpful resources. GME institution and program leaders will connect with peers and ACGME representatives in breakout groups or discussion.

Back to Bedside Funding Available
The ACGME's Back to Bedside initiative is designed to empower residents and fellows to develop transformative projects that foster meaning and joy in work and allow them to engage on a deeper level with what is at the heart of medicine: their patients.
This Back to Bedside funding cycle offers two options for applicants to consider:
- The Open Innovation option is intended to provide flexibility for novel proposals.
- The Project in a Box - Focused Innovation option offers residents and fellows from all specialties a successful project example to use as inspiration for further innovation.
Proposals are due by April 22, 2024.

ACGME Seeks Members for MUA/P Advisory Group
The ACGME seeks nominations of a resident/fellow and a senior clinical executive leader (e.g., chief executive officer, chief medical officer, chief nursing officer) for the MUA/P Advisory Group. This group provides consultation concerning implementation of the ACGME’s framework for MUA/P and GME. The nomination deadline has been extended to April 26, 2024.
The senior clinical executive leader will serve up to three years with the option of renewing for an additional three-year term. Resident/fellow members will serve two-year terms. Self-nominations are accepted.

CLER Pathways to Excellence Version 3.0
Version 3.0 of the CLER Pathways to Excellence: Expectations for an Optimal Clinical Learning Environment to Achieve Safe and High-Quality Patient Care is now available. The document continues to serve as a tool to promote discussions and actions to optimize the clinical learning environment. This version also introduces the new CLER Focus Area of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. This Focus Area recognizes that diverse, equitable, and inclusive clinical learning environments are essential to improve patient and learner experiences and achieve equity in health care.
Version 3.0 of the CLER Pathways to Excellence will be the basis for the next cycle of CLER visits anticipated to launch in mid-2025.

Debriefing after a critical event or adverse patient outcome is shown to help mitigate effects that can lead to post-traumatic stress disorder and burnout; however, senior residents may not have the skills needed to lead debriefs. This Educational Innovation study shows how a one-hour workshop training senior residents to lead debriefings after critical events significantly improved their self-reported preparedness to do so.
Addressing Citations in an ACGME-I Psychiatry Residency Program: From Probationary to Continued Accreditation Within 13 Months

In 2022, a psychiatry residency program at Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar was placed on probationary accreditation following a site visit. This article explores the strategies the program adopted to quickly resolve the citations, transform deficiencies into strengths, and successfully regain full accreditation by the following year. Eight recommendations are presented to guide other programs working to address their own accreditation citations. NEW! Resident Member The following Review Committee seeks its next resident member for a two-year term beginning July 1, 2024. The resident member must be enrolled in an ACGME-accredited neurological surgery program at the time of the appointment and may not serve more than one year beyond completion of residency.

A Systems Approach to Developing Faculty Competencies in Assessment
This course will be offered May 5-10, 2024 at the ACGME office in Chicago, Illinois.
The course is designed to help participants build effective assessment programs for their residency or fellowship. Sessions are highly interactive and use multiple learning approaches, including simulation practice, peer consultations, and application exercises, to provide participants with methods and tools for effective assessment. The course also provides a roadmap for developing an assessment system to assist participants in implementing changes within their own institution.

Case Number Requirement Changes in Nuclear Radiology
The Review Committee for Radiology recently discussed the availability and volume of the overall number of pediatric nuclear cases, and how many nuclear radiology fellows can take credit per case. The Review Committee determined it will no longer enforce Program Requirement IV.B.1.b).(2).(b).(i), which requires a minimum of 100 pediatric cases per fellow.
While all fellows must have experience in pediatric cases, it is the responsibility of the program director to determine how much pediatric experience each fellow needs to achieve competence to enter autonomous practice.
