The conference’s theme, “Meaning in Medicine,” reflects the ACGME's commitment to an inspiring, content-rich experience where attendees can connect and enhance the tools that enable them to deliver meaningful excellence in health care and medical education.

ACGME President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas J. Nasca, MD, MACP called on nearly 4,000 members of the graduate medical education community not only to teach medicine to heal the body, but also to teach how medicine can heal society.

In the poster “Stop, Collaborate and Listen: Creating a Culture of Coordinator Collaboration and Mentorship through the Formation of a Subspecialty Organization,” a team of coordinators evaluated the impact of creating a fellowship-specific coordinator organization. 2023 GME Institutional Coordinator Excellence Awardee Bret Stevens, MBA, C-TAGME is the institutional coordinator for McLaren Health Care and the associate designated institutional official (DIO) for McLaren Oakland and McLaren St. Luke’s hospitals.

2023 Debra L. Dooley GME Program Coordinator Excellence Awardee Bernadett R. Mahanay, BA is the fellowship programs manager for anesthesiology, peri-operative and pain medicine at Stanford Health Care, Stanford University School of Medicine.

The ACGME welcomed attendees back to the first in-person Annual Educational Conference since 2020. Thursday featured multiple Full-Day Courses, tailored to specific roles and functions in GME, a networking event for coordinators, a reception for residents and fellows, the annual Marvin R. Dunn Welcoming Poster Reception and Exhibitor Kick-Off, and a celebratory dinner for awardees.
